Nobody sees IT problems coming

Someone handles the technology at your company: Maybe an internal person, an outside firm, or the office manager who is good with computers. If you ask how things are going the answer is usually some version of “fine.” It usually is, right up until it isn’t.

Your team isn’t hiding anything – they just haven’t looked at the whole environment at once against a standard. Our assessment can help audit credentials and find the one dead server before they turn into a problem.

What we found at a company that thought it was secure

A multi-site field service company brought us in for an assessment. Six locations, around 200 employees, an IT setup that had run for years without a serious incident.

Invisible risks included:

  • Administrative passwords written on notes and stuck to monitors, in the open.
  • A backup system that had not been tested. No proof a single file could be restored.
  • Computers still running Windows 7, connected to the network.
  • Employee email credentials for sale on the dark web.
  • No written record of the hardware and software the company owned.
  • Firewall protections switched off at more than one site.

What you get to keep

You get a working document outlining risks, ranked for seriousness. Act on it yourself, hand it to your current vendor, or build next year’s budget from it. This independent assessment stays yours.

1

What we review

Every layer: your network, your computers, your Microsoft 365 and cloud setup, your written policies, and the physical rooms your equipment sits in.

2

A ranked list

Every finding gets scored by severity, then sorted high, medium or low. You’ll know what to fix this month and what can wait.

3

Proof you can hand off

Something real to give your insurance carrier, your biggest customer, or your board.

4

The truth about your backups

Most businesses believe their critical data is backed up. Far fewer have actually tested the backup. We confirm your backup will work before a ransomware event tests it for you.

5

A map of what you own

Every site, every device, every connection, written down and diagrammed. Most companies have never had this documented, and you may find there is access to your system from credentials that are years old (and should be shut off).

6

A budget you can defend

A phased plan with priorities attached, so technology spending becomes something you schedule so you are not ambushed by spend that could have been planned in advance.

What’s the investment?

We scope the cost of your assessment on the intro call. Once we know how many locations and systems you’re running, we can provide clarity on the investment. The price reflects the size of the engagement. A real assessment takes real hours from real engineers. Pricing it authentically is part of what makes the findings worth trusting. If you never call us again afterward, the report is still yours. That’s the arrangement.

How it works

1

The call

You invest 30 minutes talking to us. Tell us about your business, your locations, and what’s keeping you up at night. We tell you whether an assessment is worth your time.

2

The assessment

We review your environment across every location, using the same tools and standards an auditor or an insurer would apply.

3

The conversation

We walk you through what we found with priorities attached. What happens next is your call. Fix it in-house, hand it to your current provider, or partner with us.

How to know if this is for you

You have more than one location and suspect they aren’t set up the same way.

Your technology grew alongside the business, one fix at a time.

Your cyber insurance renewal is coming and you’re not sure you can answer the questions.

A customer or a contract has started asking about your security.

You have one IT person carrying the whole company across multiple disciplines.

You’ve never had an outside set of eyes on your IT environment.

Running one office with a handful of computers? This is more than you need, and we’ll say so on the call rather than waste your afternoon.

Questions

What does the assessment cost?

We scope it to your environment on the intro call. Location count, systems and users all factor in. There’s no contract and no obligation to act on what we find. The report is yours either way.

Why does Prescient do this?

It’s a paid, scoped engagement. Some companies who see what we find ask us to fix it, and that’s the business case. If you never call us again, you still keep the report.

What's covered in the review?

Your network, your devices, your Microsoft 365 and cloud setup, your written policies, and the physical rooms your equipment sits in, across every location.

Will this disrupt our team?

No. Your people keep working normally while we complete the assessment.

We already have an MSP. Can we still do this?

Yes. A second set of eyes doesn’t require switching providers. Plenty of companies use the findings to hold their current provider accountable.

Is our data kept confidential?

Yes. Findings go only to the people you designate, and nothing leaves Prescient without your sign-off.
